This is a time lapse of my first attempt at a self portrait - from a photograph I took looking in a mirror. Oil paint on 6" x 6" Gessobord panel. Each second represents about a minute of painting, with the total time spent painting around 6 hours. I consider myself an advanced beginner painter, after having taken up oil painting during the last few months. A more experienced painter could have done this in half the time, as the whole middle part is me trying different things and failing miserably... but it was a great learning experience and I'm happy with the outcome. Posting because I thought it was interesting to see the whole progression. The song, "History of Pop" is an awesome mash-up by a good friend, Zach Maxwell, and pieces together all number one songs from the last 100 years.
