1968 Chevrolet Chevy 2 Nova Battery Cover (Battery Topper) Installation
Pictures of the installation of the battery cover, also referred to as a battery topper,in my 1968 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova. While the cover was real close to fitting properly it did need a little tweaking of the battery post holes as they were too small and too close to each other. The battery may have been made with a tolerance on the center to center dimensions on the post but it didn't take too much work to have the cover fitting perfectly onto the battery I bought. While the original battery had the positive post towards the outside of the car, I decided to reverse this so the negative post was close to the fender. Should the fender ever get bent over in an accident and hit the post it will not create a short. If the positive was close to the fender then it would be easier to short out the battery.
