27Pablo - My Ride To Vineyard Town

My trip(ing) to Vineyard Town was a process. My first visit took place on the pages of "Born Fi Dead" book of Laurie Gunst. The death of Trevor Phillips on Fourth Avenue in Vineyard Town was the most dramatic and personal moment in the book. Then I got there in 2011, to meet, in my opinion, the most creative minds of Jamaican Music of the last decade and half. The Equinoxx studio was a place with different feeling, different vibes and most of all completely free art spirit. I caught there lots of inspiration. Fast forward to 2020. I didn't really plan the trip this year. It was a pretty spontaneous thing connected to a musical project of a friend. I didn't have any equipment, but I loved the fact that I could inhale the air of Kingston, and try to capture the picture of the city, filter it by the completely unstructured thousands of thoughts that have been going through my head. Well, yeah, and I was reading the biography of Luis Bunuel at the same time. I have no idea why I have waited for 9 years to visit National Gallery in Kingston. It was an amazing inspiration that gave me yet, another completely fresh stream of inspiration. I don't think I can explain my feelings about Kingston in a better way than this.
