Simpkins - No Control

Simpkins was a band from Gothenburg 1988-1996, one in the long line of young Swedish garage rock bands from the early 90s. Simpkins recorded four albums, two of which were issued at Gothenburg label Sunspot Records with EMI Publishing as publisher. In 1994 the band was licensed to Snap Records for overseas market in Japan and other countries. The launch, however, was not prolonged, then MNW discontinued Snap Records the following year. Simpkins still paved the way for many Gothenburg musicians via Sunspot Studios. Brought to light, Whipped Cream, Brother Daniel, Honey Is Cool, Håkan Hellström, Silverbullit, The Soundtrack of Our Lives, The Smash Hit Wonders and Gordon are some of the bands that made their early recordings at Sunspot Studios. In this small studio pop music sounded less brushed, than was common in Sweden in 1988 - 96. This sound, which also emerged elsewhere in Gothenburg, was later known as The Gothenburg Sound.    / @carl-johanryden653
