Are Samsung smart TVs worth it? If you are a gamer, their smart TVs have excellent graphics but lousy menu operability. I heard they had bad connections. Just buy the Samsung TV with more HDMI connections. They are not all equal in that regard. Obviously. How good are the smart TVs? Their LED TVs are OK, and they are better for gamers since they have less video lag. I know LED TVs use less power. However, plasma TVs are supposed to have a better image. Plasma TVs have great images and brightness but can burn in the black borders of a movie if you watch them in movie ratios right after you get it. Which Samsung plasmas should I consider? The F8500 has deep contrast. The Samsung F8000 is better if you want the energy saving LCD or LED TVs. What is not great about their TVs? It feels like you need a master's degree in TV technology to figure out their remote controls. I think that's true of just about any smart TV these days. Samsung TVs do tend to rate well in Consumer Reports, smart or not. They take the top spot in almost any size reviewed by the magazine, whether 29 or 55 inches across. I thought Toshiba or LG was best in the 38" screen category. Yeah, not far above Westinghouse. I did not even know Westinghouse was still in business, much less that they made TVs. They still build nuclear power plant components, too. I only need a smart TV, not something you have to be a genius or rocket scientist to understand. Samsung smart TVs are well rated by Consumer Reports, taking the guess work out of the technical specs a manufacturer might post online. Yeah, figuring those out can be as bad as a Common Core math problem. Just get a Samsung and realize you'll have to waste as much time reading the manual to figure out the remote as with any other brand.
