In this webinar, we discussed how forests store carbon, how the voluntary carbon market works, and how to decide whether or not a forest carbon program is a good fit for your woods. Then, Josh Fain from LandYield and Ethan Ragan from the Family Forest Carbon Program talked about eligibility requirements, the enrollment process, the payment structure, and other aspects of their programs. UW-Madison Extension is not affiliated with any carbon program, nor do we endorse any particular company. Our programming about forest carbon seeks to help landowners make informed decisions about whether to manage their woodland for carbon and whether to enroll in a forest carbon program. Forest carbon programs align well with some forest management goals, but not with others.
