Although the Colombian health system covers the cost of prosthesis, it´s very difficult for people with low income living in rural areas to access medical care due to a lack of rehabilitation centers close to their place of residence. In order to access medical centers, patients have to travel to main or intermediate cities, this incurs in a high cost of transportation and lodging during their rehabilitation processes, which they cannot afford and is not covered by the health system. This is why there are still a lot of amputees living in Colombia that have not received a mobility aid or are in urgent need to get a replacement.
