In this video, I take my rifle to the range and show how to build accurate ballistic data out to 500 yards using nothing more than a smartphone app and factory ammo data. I’m shooting my Sig Cross in 6.5 Creedmoor with a Vortex Optics Razor LHT 4.5-22 FFP (MRAD) and using the GeoBallistics app to generate and refine real-world ballistic holds. We start by confirming a 100-yard zero, then I walk through entering rifle and ammunition data into GeoBallistics using factory box info and estimated muzzle velocity. From there, I take the raw ballistic data to 400 yards, review real impacts on steel, and true the muzzle velocity to match what the rifle is actually doing. This step-by-step process shows how hunters and shooters can get reliable dope without a chronograph, expensive gear, or complicated math—just practical data that works in the real world.
