BACKGROUND I have wanted a garage lift since I began working on cars over 25 years ago. I always thought I had to get an expensive two-post lift and bolt it to the floor, but I was wrong! Open center scissor lifts are a fantastic option for FWD, AWD and RWD vehicles and they allow you to retain the parking spot in your garage. This particular lift will provide up to 40" of height and a vehicle as low as about 4.5" to the ground (less if approach ramps are utilized). After hours of research, I ended up with what I believe to be one of the best options out there: A mid rise open center scissor lift. If you have a somewhat lower vehicle, you may need to have ramps and then add 2x6 pieces to the thin blocks they provide to ensure the pinch welds are contacted properly and the side skirts are not smashed. NOTE The body on frame cross bars will block some access from under the vehicle. For example, it could make pulling a long transmission out of a RWD vehicle difficult.
