EP News, Pasighat | 14 November 2025: A peaceful candlelight march was organised this evening in Pasighat to demand justice for Lt. Cadet Tadu Haro, a young student whose tragic death has been linked to ragging. Hundreds of people from various communities, youth organisations, and student groups joined the solemn march, expressing grief, solidarity, and a strong call for accountability. The march began from D. Ering Memorial School and concluded at Gandhi Chowk, Pasighat, where participants lit candles and observed a silent tribute. The event was organised by the Pasighat Apatani Welfare Society (PAWS) in collaboration with the Apatani Youth Association (AYA) and the All Adi Youth Association (AAYA). Representatives from different organisations delivered emotional speeches addressing the need to end the culture of ragging in educational institutions. Anit Tamuk, speaking on behalf of the Adi Bane Kebang youth wing (ABKYW), strongly condemned the incident and emphasised that no student should ever fear for their safety within an educational environment. He urged authorities to ensure strict action and stronger preventive measures. Takhe Doyang, representing Tani Supung Dukun, reminded the gathering that Tadu Haroโs death is not just a personal loss but a loss for the entire state. He delivered a powerful message highlighting that โRagging is not a culture โ it is a crime," calling for reforms, awareness campaigns, and community responsibility. Participants carried candles and placards demanding justice, stressing that young lives must be protected from bullying, harassment, and unsafe campus practices. The march reflected growing public sentiment that ragging should not be tolerated under any circumstances. Community leaders, teachers, parents, and youth expressed deep grief over the loss of the young cadet, describing him as disciplined, bright, and full of potential. Many urged authorities to ensure a fair and transparent investigation so that justice can be delivered. The candlelight march concluded with a collective pledge to support anti-ragging initiatives and promote safer environments in all educational institutions. Organisers reiterated that the movement for justice will continue until the truth is uncovered and responsible individuals are held accountable.
