An SMC 42" DC-42 ceiling fan in white with polished brass from 1994. This was found fully assembled at the OKWill. It was likely taken there fully assembled, and was taken home fully assembled. Somehow it survived both of these trips along with whatever shuffling around took place at the store. A quick wipe down with melamine foam (off-brand Mrs. Filthy Magical Eraser) and it looks like new. The brass has aged very nicely and still has the majority of it's shine and luster. The blades also cleaned up perfectly and look like new. On top of that, all the parts were present as well. The irons are slightly out of clock, but this is no surprise considering how it was handled. In fact, it's nothing short of a miracle that they're not more out of clock. It does have a significant wobble, but a few pieces of paper jammed between the canopy and the ceiling provided a short-term ghetto fix. I suspect the light shades are not original, but the light kit itself may be. I quite like the shades themselves, but they are far too big for this particular fan. It runs quieter than I expected. A lot of SMC fans are notorious for obnoxious motor hum and spoiled bearings, but this unit doesn't produce much of either noise. It moves good air despite being flush mounted. These were economy products of the time, but the performance was still quite respectable.
