I chronicled the first part of the day in my last video. Going to Little big Horn did move me. Getting the new tires on the trailer relieved a little nagging anxiety. But now it was time to tackle the Beartooth Pass. This is one of the “must ride” roads for motorcyclists in North America. It is an hour and a half of switch backs and scenery to rival anywhere. Although I did get a lot of tight turns on the Pacific Coast Highway later on. The Beartooth is one of those roads that makes me laugh at the riders who think the Tail of the Dragon is the “be all, end all” of motorcycle roads. It ain’t. Pulling off on a scenic overlook I thought I was in deep trouble. I was in deep gravel and we all know how much I like deep gravel. The torque of the GL1500 was digging me a trench and the slight slope was making it easy to slide backwards a little. Finally, using a snow technique of going into second gear, I was able to get back on the road. On of my biggest regrets on this trip was not allowing enough time to explore Yellowstone. When I booked a campground way back in March, I booked the wrong one and at this point it meant I was just going to travel through the park instead of having a good visit. Maybe there will be a next time. Did get to see enough buffalo. I ended up not making it to my booked campground and spent the night in the town of West Yellowstone. More on that in the next video.
