We spent three months in the city of Aswan, Egypt in a small Nubian village called Gabil Tagog right on the bank of the Nile. We immediately fell in love with the people, culture, tea, river, food and of course language. During our time there we visited a lot of the attractions that Aswan has to offer - the river, tombs, temples, proximity to the Red Sea, Lake Nasser and the dams that make this tiny portion of the Nile at Aswan the most beautiful section of the 4,200 mile long river. A sailboat filled oasis tucked in a small valley surrounded by the great Sahara desert. The Nile is the artery of life for these people and the city. It fuels their economy, and promotes tourism that fuels many small businesses. Although, in recent times, tourism has declined. But, it’s the hope of many that in due time, it will grow. A dear friend, Ragab, and I sat down with a few guys and asked them questions about growing up here, about the Nile and it’s importance. I loved our time along the Nile with the golden people. // Produced in Aswan, Egypt by Neil Sandoz and Eslam Mohamed Title animation by Evan Wright Big thanks to Jeff Ladine for the translations Music provided by Marmoset - marmosetmusic.com
