Fasadus: Company from Lithuania takes part in the Kiruna town relocation project

Kiruna is a town in northern Sweden. Until now, it was famous for its ice hotel, but currently the world has been speaking about Kiruna for a different reason. It has been decided to move the city inhabited by eighteen thousand people to another place located three kilometres to the east. The relocation that should be completed approximately by two thousand and forty has been planned as following. Valuable buildings will be disassembled, moved and then assembled again. These are dozens of buildings, such as, for instance, a wooden church that won the title of the most beautiful church in Sweden. Iron ore mine become a reason for the local authority to initiate such large scale relocation. It is an underground mine and iron ore extraction creates cavities and gaps that may cause buildings to collapse.
