"The Road To Babylon" • Manfred Mann's Earth Band - The Road To Ba... My 18th video in a series I'm working on for some of my favorite songs from the past. "The Road To Babylon" was released on Manfred Mann's The Roaring Silence album in 1976. This was the first album by this group that I ever bought and I remember being amazed at how unique and different it sounded. This was a band with a sound all it's own and this album is a great example of that sound. I really love each and every song on the album and would have enjoyed creating a video for any of them. However, The Road To Babylon is not only one of my favorites, but I also thought it a good song for a video about the whole middle east situation. I dedicated this video to a friend of the family's who lost his life in Bagdad, Oscar Sauceda, Jr. and all the other brave men and women who sacrificed so that others might have a chance at freedom. [LYRICS] By the waters of Babylon We lay down and wept and Wept for these I am We remember, we remember, we Remember these I am A golden helmet blinded minds Among ten thousand swords Along the road to Babylon A golden thunder silenced songs Among ten thousand voices On the road to Babylon Well, well, well, beware that golden helmet Well, well, well There's no easy way to go Well, well, well No easy road to follow Well, well, well A golden ocean turned to fire And burned ten thousand ships Along the road to Babylon Golden dreamer touched the sky Alone in empty silence On the road to Babylon Well, well, well Beware that golden thunder Well, well, well That dreamed and sang the song Well, well, well The empty sound of sorrow
