Tag 2 unserer Irland Rundreise - Stadtrundgang Kilkenny mit Castle und Kirchen und Weiterfahrt nach Cashel mit Besichtigung des "Felsen" - Rock of Cashel. Der erste ganze Tag in Irland. Nach einem ausgiebigen Frühstück in unserem B&B sind wir heute morgen in Naas gestartet. Die heutige Tour führt uns von Naas über Kilkenny, Cashel nach Blarney. Die Gesamtstrecke beträgt heute ca. 300 km und die reine Fahrtzeit sind mit knapp drei Stunden angegeben. Den ersten Stopp haben wir in Kilkenny gemacht. Dort machten wir einen Stadtrundgang durch die Stadt selbst und haben uns die Sehenswürdigkeiten angeschaut (St Canice' s Cathedral, St. Mary' s Cathedral, Kilkenny Castle, Butler Garden). Nach gut zwei Stunden Aufenthalt ging unsere Reise in Richtung Cashel weiter. Die Fahrtzeit bis dorthin war ca. 1 Stunde. In Cashel haben wir uns natürlich den berühmten Felsen - Rock of Cashel angeschaut. Wahrlich eine ehemals prachtvolle Kirche, die auch heute noch als Ruine eine mystische Wirkung auf die Besucher ausstrahlt. Natürlich war die Queen hier auch zu Besuch gewesen. Nach einer ausführlichen Besichtigung ging es dann noch einmal ca. eine Stunden Fahrtzeit in Richtung unserer zweiten Unterkunft nach Blarney. Dort haben wir im Hotel Blarney Woollen Mills eingecheckt. In Blarney werden wir dann auch am nächsten Tag unsere Sightseeing tour direkt fortsetzen. The first full day in Ireland. After a hearty breakfast in our B&B, we started this morning in Naas. Today's tour takes us from Naas via Kilkenny, Cashel to Blarney. The total distance today is about 300 km and the pure driving time is given as just under three hours. We made the first stop in Kilkenny. There we made a city tour through the city itself and looked at the sights (St Canice's Cathedral, St. Mary's Cathedral, Kilkenny Castle, Butler Garden). After a good two hours of stay, our journey continued in the direction of Cashel. The journey time to get there was about 1 hour. In Cashel, of course, we took a look at the famous Rock of Cashel. Truly a formerly magnificent church, which even today radiates a mystical effect on visitors as a ruin. Of course, the Queen had also visited here. After a detailed visit, we drove another hour towards our second accommodation in Blarney. There we checked in at the Hotel Blarney Woollen Mills.
