He has never had another job. Steve was a finalist in the Young Magician of the Year in 1985, passed Grade 8 on the flute, learnt to ride a uni-cycle, can juggle 5 balls, and was in the under 14s Surrey county table tennis squad. When he was 19 he took up the guitar and sat for 8 hours a day practicing until his fingers were sore. Steve has been all around the world being silly, toured with Frank Skinner, Omid Dialili and Craig Charles, been on TV a few times and is a visiting lecturer at Middlesex university teaching stand-up comedy on the third year drama course He has always taken photographs. It was some 10 cars ago that he started bringing his camera into comedy clubs and shooting his fellow comics. He has two little chunky books published, Comedy Snapshot (Articul8 2014) and Joke Face (Unbound 2017) https://www.stevebest.com/books. Between them there are over 1000 of his photos of comedians from the UK comedy circuit, each with one of their own jokes and several of their weird and wonderful facts. It has never been done before and is a true documentation of the comedy world that he inhabits. During that time he started approaching the photographic documentation of the comedy circuit with much more of an artistic vision. HIs third book. COMEDIANS, is the culmination of the journey. Although COMEDIANS II is the culmination of the culmination of the journey.
