Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif addressed the Pakistan Breakfast at the Pakistan Pavilion on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 56th Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, presenting Pakistan’s economic recovery, reform agenda, and future growth vision. The Prime Minister highlighted that Pakistan is moving forward with confidence as inflation has declined from nearly 30% to around 5.5%, while the policy rate has been reduced from 22.5% to 10.5%. He noted steady progress in IT exports, driven by supportive government measures, and emphasized that structural reforms and digitization have increased the tax-to-GDP ratio to 10.5%. He underscored encouraging progress in agriculture exports and the mines and minerals sector through international partnerships, alongside rapid advancements in information technology, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies. The Prime Minister stated that export-led growth has been identified as Pakistan’s long-term path toward economic stability and sustainable development. Addressing Pakistan’s youth bulge, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described it as both a challenge and a major opportunity. He outlined government initiatives, in coordination with provincial governments, to empower youth through vocational and technical training. He highlighted the role of NAVTTC, offering modern training programs vetted through third-party audits and supported by international certification, enabling youth to compete globally. The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to complete transparency and accountability, citing the transparent privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) as a milestone. He announced plans for further privatization in airports, the power sector, distribution companies, and transmission lines. He also noted that loss-making entities such as Utility Stores, PASCO, and PWD have been closed, saving billions of rupees and ending the burden on the national exchequer. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan’s strict adherence to the IMF program has positioned the country as a success story for other developing economies, with the focus now shifting toward sustainable, inclusive growth. #shehbazsharif #switzerland WhatsApp: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaXk...
