Chinatown has been in Vancouver since the late 1880s. In the early days, majority of the Chinese came to Gold Mountain in search of gold. The Chinese were mainly from Canton (now Guangzhou) province in China. Chinese were only allowed to reside in Chinatown. Thus Chinese were clustered around Carrall Street and Dupont Street (later known as Pender Street). In this short 6 minutes of still images we will journey from the beginning of Chinatown to its present day. The viewer will see the evolution of Vancouver's Chinatown through the camera lens perspective.
