BR 75 and in 1970 became the Class 107. Ordered in the late 1950's from the Czechoslavakian manufacturer CKD and is based on there 435 locomotive. The locomotive was intended to replace the Class 80 steam shunting locomotives however these were still in service until 1977. The BR 75 was designed with a terminal cab and you would think that the locomotive would be driven cab however this was not the case the locomotive was set up to be driven bonnet as the drivers cab was only fully equipped to driven this direction. There is only an auxiliary driving position in the cab forward direction with minimal controls. There are two entry doors one is in the middle of the end stage whilst the other is on the left turnaround. Entering service in 1962 these locomotives were based around the Greater Leipzig Area and were used for empty coaching stock into and out of Leipzig Hbf they could also be seen on construction trains weedkilling services light freight and in the summer only on passenger services. Latterly they were based in Eilenburg until withdrawal in 1984.
