Contemporary neuroscience has debunked the common belief that it is possible to choose or control our emotions using reason and logic, so why do we cling so tightly to the myth of emotional control? In her talk, Liz Clark suggests that keeping emotions out of our decision-making is not only impossible, but undesirable, and advocates for mindful, compassionate integration of heart and mind. Dr. Liz Clark is a clinical psychologist and the Coordinator of Outreach and Prevention at Fordham University CPS - Rose Hill. She received her Doctor of Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at University of Illinois - Chicago's Counseling Center prior to joining the Fordham community in the Fall of 2014. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
