Scooter ward born May 7, 1970, is an American musician best known as the founding member and lead singer of the rock band Cold. His musical journey began in the halls of Fletcher High School in Neptune Beach, Florida, where he formed the band Grundig in 1986 alongside fellow students Sam McCandless, Jeremy Marshall, and Matt Loughran. Grundig's early years were marked by local gigs and steady growth, with their first performance taking place in 1990 at a club called the Spray. The band's dedication led to the release of an eight-song EP titled "Into Everything" in 1992, followed by a move to Atlanta, Georgia, in pursuit of broader opportunities. However, the path to success was not without its challenges. In 1995, Grundig disbanded, prompting Ward to return to Jacksonville. There, he briefly formed a new band called Diablo with McCandless, Kelly Hayes, and Pat Lally, but this project was short-lived, lasting only about three months. The turning point came when Grundig reformed under the new name Cold, signing a six-album record deal with A&M Records. This marked the beginning of Ward's most recognized musical endeavor, with Cold going on to achieve significant success in the rock music scene. Throughout Cold's career, Ward showcased his versatility as a musician. He initially played both guitar and piano in Grundig and on Cold's debut album. However, he stepped back from guitar duties when Terry Balsamo joined the band, only to return to the instrument nearly a decade later during the recording of their album "Superfiction." Cold's journey was marked by both triumphs and tribulations. The band found mainstream success with albums like "13 Ways to Bleed on Stage" (2000) and "Year of the Spider" (2003), both certified Gold by the RIAA. Their single "Stupid Girl" became their only track to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Despite these successes, Cold faced challenges with record labels and underwent numerous lineup changes. The band briefly disbanded in 2006 but reunited in 2009 for a tour that evolved into a full-fledged comeback. Since then, Cold has released two more studio albums: "Superfiction" in 2011 and "The Things We Can't Stop" in 2019. Most recently, Cold has been celebrating the 20th anniversary of "Year of the Spider" with a tour in 2023, showcasing the enduring appeal of their music. Despite further lineup changes, including the departure of some members and the addition of new guitarists, Ward remains the constant driving force behind Cold.
