I organized a When in Rome homeschool day at the Northeast Georgia History Center where I work as the Director of Education as a fun way for our students to learn about Ancient Rome. For this event I needed an outfit. I researched what a roman woman would have worn and decided to make a tunica, stola, and palla inspired by the ones that are on a famous statue of Julia Augusta wife of Emperor Augustus. This Roman garb would be a great project for a beginner who is just starting to build their historical wardrobe. It is all straight seams and rectangles. I did not use a pattern for this outfit but rather self drafted as I went with my measurements.
