Callanish Standing Stones - Isle of Lewis - Scotland | 4K | DJI Mini 3 Pro

The Callanish Stones are a remarkable example of Neolithic stone architecture, located on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland. They consist of a central stone circle surrounded by four rows of standing stones that form a cross shape. The stones are made of local Lewisian gneiss, a metamorphic rock that is among the oldest in Europe. The stones were erected around 3000 BC, so they predate Stonehenge by 500 years, and were used for at least 2000 years. The purpose and meaning of the Callanish Stones are still a mystery, but some clues can be found in their alignment and location. The stones are oriented to the movements of the sun and the moon, especially the extreme positions of the moon at its northern and southern standstill. The stones may have been used to predict and celebrate these events, which occurred every 18.6 years. The stones also have a connection to the landscape, as they are situated on a low ridge overlooking Loch Roag, a sea loch that separates Lewis from the nearby islands of Great Bernera and Little Bernera. The stones may have been a focal point for the people who lived in this area, and a link between the land and the sea. It is a truly magical place, must-see for all Isle of Lewis explorers. Access to the stones remains free for public, but access to exhibitions in Visitor Centre may be ticketed. I hope you liked what you've seen.
