THE MUSKY HUNT EPISODE 1! In this video I chase musky on the fly for the first time this year. Musky are some of the coolest fish in my opinion and I'm excited to be able to chase them this year! Musky fishing is tough, but you can't catch them sitting at home. Musky are known as the fish of 10,000 casts and are some of the hardest fish to catch. They run the rivers and creeks they live in and are known for eating everything from fish to birds and small mammals… whatever they deem to be food quickly becomes that, whether they are conventional fish food or not. Last year I caught my biggest musky ever at 49 inches and it reignited a passion that I’ve let simmer for the past 5 years or more. But this year I’ve decided to dedicate time to musky and exploring new musky water. They’ve been the focus of some of the biggest triumphs and the most gut wrenching heart breaks of my fishing life, but that’s why we love them. I have no idea what will happen over the coming months, but I can promise you I’ll have fun chasing a fish that has the ability to run my life like no other. Welcome to the musky hunt. So after that small musky popped I didn’t see any other fish. The water in that second river was so much more off colored than the previous river, which was so clear I could see the bottom in 20 feet of water. Neither conditions were ideal yet I had a musky eat in both, which was a great lesson to learn on my first trip of the year.
