The Greatest Verse in the Qur’an — And Why Shaytan Fears It || Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan Credits: • A Journey Through The Quran . 📖 Episode 4: The Greatest Verse in the Quran – Ayatul Kursi (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:255) In this fourth episode of "Reflecting on the Qur'an" for Ramadan 2026, Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan unpacks the most powerful verse in the entire Book of Allah – Ayatul Kursi. This single verse contains the essence of Tawhid. It refutes every false belief. It protects the one who recites it. And it has a story so incredible that it involves a thief, a companion, and a Shaitan who couldn't stop coming back. 📌 In this episode, you will discover: 1. The Greatest Verse in the Quran The Prophet ﷺ asked Ubayy bin Ka'b (RA): "Do you know which verse in the Book of Allah is the greatest?" Ubayy responded: "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet repeated the question. Ubayy said: "Allahu la ilaha illa Huwal Hayyul Qayyum" (Ayatul Kursi). The Prophet ﷺ then struck his chest and said: "May knowledge be easy and beneficial for you, Abu Mundhir." 2. The Story of Abu Hurairah and the Shaitan One of the most famous hadith in Sahih Al-Bukhari: The Prophet ﷺ appointed Abu Hurairah to guard the zakat of Ramadan A man came three nights in a row to steal from the food Each time, Abu Hurairah caught him, and each time the man pleaded poverty and was released The third time, the man said: "When you go to bed, recite Ayatul Kursi – you will have a protector from Allah, and Shaitan will not come near you until morning." Abu Hurairah let him go The Prophet ﷺ revealed: "He told you the truth, even though he is a liar. That was a Shaitan." ⚠️ Important Misconception Addressed: Some people use this hadith to justify taking knowledge from corrupt people. Ustadh explains why this is incorrect: Abu Hurairah did not know it was Shaitan He used the word "za'ama" (he claimed) – a word of doubt He only acted after the Prophet ﷺ confirmed the information 3. The Context of the Verse Ayatul Kursi comes after verses describing the disbelief of the Jews, Christians, and Arab pagans who: Distorted their scriptures Innovated in their religion Worshipped idols Denied Allah's true attributes This verse was revealed to correct every deviation and establish pure Tawhid. 🔍 Detailed Tafsir of Ayatul Kursi "Allahu la ilaha illa Hu" There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone. He alone deserves worship in love, fear, hope, and glorification. "Al-Hayyul Qayyum" Al-Hayy (The Ever-Living): Complete life that was never preceded by non-existence and will never be followed by extinction Al-Qayyum (The Self-Sustaining): He stands independent of all creation, and all creation stands in need of Him "Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep" This explains His complete life and self-sustenance. He never sleeps, never tires – unlike human kings and false gods. "To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth" Absolute ownership. Everything is His slave and possession. Worship belongs to Him alone. "Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission?" A rhetorical question – the answer is NO ONE. Intercession is only possible after Allah grants permission. "He knows what is before them and what will be after them" Allah knows: The past The present The future Even what has not happened, if it were to happen, how it would be "They encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills" Human knowledge is limited. Even the greatest scholars know only what Allah grants them. "His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth" Ibn Abbas (RA) explained: The Kursi is the place of the Feet. The 'Arsh (Throne) is even greater – and its true magnitude is known only to Allah. "And He feels no fatigue in guarding them" Protecting the heavens and earth is effortless for Allah. "And He is the Most High, the Most Great" Al-'Ali (The Most High) includes three types of 'Uluww: He is above His throne, above His creation His status is infinitely higher than all He has absolute power and dominance over everything This verse is a refutation of those who deny Allah's attributes (like the Mu'tazilah, Jahmiyyah, and Ash'aris who interpret them away). . . . . . . . . . . #Quran #Islam #Hadith #IslamicTeaching #Prophet #Sunnah #MuslimFamily #IslamicAdvice #IslamicGuidance #Deen #IslamicWisdom #muslim #Allah #islamic #muslims #islamicreminders #islamiclecture #islamicquotes #islamicpost #hadith #sunnah #muftimenk #abubakrzoud, #muhammadtimhumble #quranrecitation #quranverses #prayer #duas #tawheed #fiqh #islamicknowledge
