Overturned vehicle with American troops at scene STORYLINE: A suicide car bomber attacked a Shiite Muslim community centre in Khan Bani Saad, a market town 30 kilometres (18 miles) north of Baghdad, killing three people and wounding eight, according to police. Residents gathered outside the centre on Friday to survey the damage caused by the car bomb explosion the night before. Some of the injured and killed were brought to Baqouba General Hospital. The incident occurred a day after gunmen shot dead a representative of Iraq's top Shiite Muslim cleric, Ali al-Sistani, along with his son and four bodyguards in the town of Salman Pak south of Baghdad. Salman Pak and Khan Bani Saad have mixed population of Sunni and Shiite Muslims. Shiites strongly support the 30 January elections to vote for a 275-member National Assembly while Sunni Muslim clerics have said elections should not be held under occupation. Meanwhile in other violence, a US armoured vehicle was toppled over in southern Baghdad's Dora neighbourhood on Friday after reportedly being hit by an improvised explosive device (IED), according to eyewitnesses. The US military had no comment on casualties.
