What started as an idea in 2020, during a period of stagnation for us and so many others, grew into something that felt within reach. Demos were refined, and Beans was producing more music than ever. Then, as our intense touring schedule resumed, we never anticipated we’d find the time to complete the project. This album has been a labor of love—it’s more than just an album for us. It’s a love letter to our home country New Zealand; to our bond as brothers, to our family and friends that have supported us since the start; and to the laid-back way of life that shaped who we are today. But it’s also a journey through the global sounds that we’ve fallen in love with over the years. Today we’re dropping the first single from the album, Love Language, featuring our fellow Kiwi and regular collaborator, the legendary Nathan Haines, on saxophone. We poured so much of ourselves into this track, and we hope you can feel that when you hear it. This is an immensely proud moment for Beans and I. Never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined that when we relocated to London from Auckland in 2012, not only would we one day release an album, but that it would turn into a full-time career, giving us the chance to travel the world and meet incredible people along the way. We owe so much of this success to those who have continued to support us, and we hope this musical offering excites you as much as it does us.
