Not-as-frigid temperatures with spottier freezing foggy conditions are present across Southeast to North New Mexico, as well as the higher elevations, with not-as-cold air present from the Rio Grande Valley to the west. Air temperatures in the north and east are starting mostly above 0°, with even fewer areas breaking records in the Pecos River Valley to the East Plains compared to yesterday, while areas to the southwest are mostly ranging from the teens to the 30s, but with some light winds, wind chill values are in the single digits to teens for much of the northeast quadrant of the region. Clouds are moving through, but with dry air below the cloud decks, milder air is in store this afternoon with most ranging from the 40s to 50s from southeast to northwest from high to low elevation with more areas in Southwest New Mexico around or above 60°. Warmer-than-normal conditions are set to become more widespread ahead, because of stronger west-northwesterly winds to go up, over, and down the southeast-sloped mountain faces, with a ridge of high pressure building to the southwest, leading to the sinking, compressing, drying, & milder process at the surface as a result. Hardly if any precipitation will fall this week with mostly clear skies prevailing as despite a backdoor front cooling things down in East New Mexico on Saturday, the warming trend will continue.
