European Animal Rights Law Conference 2023 Introduction to Animal Rights Litigation Joe Wills is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Leicester and Leverhulme Trust Research Fellow. He has published widely on the legal status of animals, animal sentience and the common law, and non-anthropocentric jurisprudence. At the moment, he is working on a Leverhulme-funded monograph on the legal status of animals in Britain. Joe Wills has drafted and co-ordinated several amicus curiae briefs in support of litigation for animals. There is therefore hardly anyone better to introduce us to some of the key issues and developments in recent animal rights litigation. This will help contextualize the court decisions talked about throughout Panel 4 of the 2023 European Animal Rights Law Conference. --- The Cambridge Centre for Animal Rights Law is an academic centre dedicated to the study, understanding and promotion of fundamental rights for non-human animals, based in Cambridge, UK.
