Mountain Trail, Beinn Eighe starts from the Coille na Glas Letire Trails car park, off the A832 close to Kinlochewe and on the bank of Loch Maree. I used the maps .gpx file from “walkhighlands.co.uk” on my garmin watch which worked very well indeed. The route has very well placed waymarkers with special cairns, it is very steep and rocky in places and exposed to the elements in its upper sections. The trail begins at the far end of the car park and passes through the underpass beneath the main road. Initially the route climbs fairly gently through the birch and pinewoods at forest. This magnificent forest, Coille na Glas Letire (wood of the grey slope) has been here for at least 8000 years, making it one of Britain's very few truly natural landscapes. On leaving the tree line the track often becomes quarts loose stones. Many of the rock face has been ground out to provide steps and grip and along with frequent cairns makes this ‘almost’ fool proof! Watch out for the sharp left turn on the trail by 'Trumpet rock', and a second sharp left higher up where the path ascends a quartz crag; despite reading this from the walkhighlands description I missed both turnings but checking my route in my watch I quickly backtracked and was able to carry on. This is a phenomenal, well constructed hike with stunning scenery and views. Kit I used was my iPhone 14 Pro Max, DJI Action 4 with 16 ND filter, DJI Pocket 3 with 16 ND, DJI Mini 4 Pro Drone with 16 ND, Fujifilm X-T5 Stupidly for this trip I had only brought one battery for my Action 4 which is my main camera due to its ruggedness. The single battery had not been enough which limited the footage. However, its the views from the top which are probably for me the most important which I’ve managed to capture 🙏 Unfortunately when im “chatting” on my channel my mind can go blank - im not good at chattering do you need to excuse me 🤪 In this video I’ve included photos of views on the route up rather than video footage so hopefully this format is liked?? But my channel is a personal hustory that I’m sharing so please consider this as you make judgement 😇 I used the route from walkhighlands.co.uk; adding the .gpx file to my garmin watch which was very useful and effective. Sound tracks from my wondershare Filmora. Frank Burden 🏴
