Commissioning the BlueFors dilution refrigerator for the Simons Observatory SAT-1

In April of 2019 UCSD received the Bluefors dilution refrigerator that will be used to cool the first of the Simons Observatory telescopes, SAT-1. A dilution refrigerator contains four ultra-cold temperature stages operating at 30K, 3K, 1K, and 100mK with the capability to get to temperatures below 7mK in ideal situations. These extremely powerful devices are used to cool the detectors and optics of the telescope to allow for incredibly sensitive measurements of the microwave light from the cosmic microwave background. This video gives a quick run down on all the components of the dilution refrigerator that will be installed in SAT-1.
