Karksi the ruins of the Order's castle and the Petri (St. Peter's) Church are perhaps one of the most interesting places in Viljandi County in Estonia. This place is located next to the small village of Karksi-Nuia on the opposite side of a small valley along which the Halliste River flows and there are two lakes - Karksi and Linnaveski. It is believed that an ancient settlement was located on a well-preserved steep hill even before the Crusaders. A beautiful view of the valley starts from this place. I was on a weekday and it was completely deserted. If you believe the history of the castle, then it had a turbulent past - frequent victories, defeats and change of owners. Nearby is the Church of St. Peter, the peculiarity of the church in the tower, which, due to the subsidence of the soil, tilted a meter from its original position, which is quite clearly visible, especially when viewed from the side of the tower. In general, the place is interesting and worth a visit.
