Bautzen is a hill top town in easter Saxony Germany..and sdministrstive centre of the epounymous district.it is locsted on the Spree with a population of 42,00. Bsutzen is often regarded ss the unofficial,but historical capital of Upper Lusatia.The town is slso important cultural center of the sorbisn minority,which constitutes about 10 percent of Bautzen population..Its hilltop position and multiple towers are often compared to some of hilltop towns in Tuscany.the town has a long association with Mustard (Bautz'ner Senf) and is one of the few places in the world to boast a Mustard Museum. The town on the River Spree is situsted about 50 km east of Dresden between Lusatia highland and the lowlands in the North anmidst of The region of Upper Lusatia. To the North Streches the Bautzen Reservoir which was flooded in 1974.this is the former location of the villages of Malsitz and Nimschütz. Bautzen has a very compact and well preserved medievel town centre with numerous churches and Towers and a city wall on the steep embankment to the River Spree, with one of the oldest preserved waterworks in central Europe (built 1558).
