ein altes österreichisches Volkslied, das ich schon als Kind von meiner Mutter gelernt hab, die es gern und oft gesungen hat. Es geht um einen Wilderer, der von eine Jäger beobachtet wird. Der Jäger, der zu feige ist, dem Wilderer in einem fairen Kampf gegenüber zu treten, will den Wilderer im Schlaf überraschen. Doch der Wilderer erwacht und stürtzt den Berg hinunter und wird lebensgefährlich verletzt. Und er will auch eher sterben, als sich dem Jäger zu ergeben. In Volksliedern symbolisiert der Jäger meist die Obrigkeit oder das Gesetz, während der Wilderer für den Rebellen steht. Dieses Lied solidalisiert sich als mit dem Rebellen, vielleicht ist es deshalb so weit verbreitet. an old Austrian Folk song, that I learned by my mother when I was a child and she used to sing ist quit often. The song is about a poacher, who is observed by a huntsman. But the huntsman is a coward, he avoids a fair fight and waits untill the poacher fell asleep. when he comes near the sleeping poacher and hits him with the rifle butt, the poacher awakes and falls down the mountain. He is heavely injured and tells the huntsman, that he rather dies than go th jail. In many folk songs the huntsman represent the law or the ruling class, while the poacher reprsents the outlaw or the rebel. So this song declares the singers solidarity with the rebel, maybe that's the reason why this song is so popular. performed May 7th 2010 together with David at the TheologInnen-Zentrum in Salzburg, Austria.
