Treetop Drop is a junior drop tower attraction located in Wild Oasis at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Designed as a more accessible drop experience, the ride delivers a controlled vertical lift followed by a single drop that balances excitement with approachability. With a height requirement of 38 inches to ride and 42 inches to ride alone, Treetop Drop is aimed at families and younger thrill seekers looking for a first drop tower experience within a themed environment. The attraction originally opened on April 5, 2008 under the name Wild Surge. Built by Italian manufacturer Moser’s Rides, the tower operated for many years as part of the Jungala area before closing after a fire during scheduled maintenance at the end of 2022. Although the structure remained in place, the ride did not operate again until plans for a new area were announced. In September 2024, Busch Gardens revealed Wild Oasis, confirming the return of the attraction as part of a reimagined rainforest adventure zone. Treetop Drop officially reopened on July 15, 2025, featuring updated theming and the addition of LED screen effects integrated into the ride experience. Treetop Drop sits within Wild Oasis, a newly introduced area designed to entertain, educate, and inspire through a mix of animal encounters, physical play, water features, and rides. Alongside Treetop Drop, Wild Oasis includes Canopy Climb, a multi level climbing structure reaching up to 45 feet high, Enchanted Falls, an interactive splash pad and water play area, and Habitat Hideaway, a multi species animal exhibit featuring capybaras, giant anteaters, squirrel monkeys, and tropical birds. Together, these experiences form a cohesive rainforest themed environment focused on exploration and movement. Wild Oasis is part of the Jungala section of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, an area that has historically focused on immersive family experiences and natural theming. With the introduction of Wild Oasis, Jungala evolved into a more unified adventure space that blends animal habitats, play areas, and ride experiences, with Treetop Drop serving as the central ride attraction within the area. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is a major Florida theme park known for combining world class roller coasters, immersive themed lands, live entertainment, and one of the largest zoological collections in North America. Home to more than 200 animal species alongside attractions such as Iron Gwazi, SheiKra, Montu, Tigris, and Cobra’s Curse, the park offers a balance of high intensity thrills and family focused experiences, with Treetop Drop adding a gentle drop tower option to its diverse ride lineup.
