He's in charge of his health and I'm in charge of mine. I have an undetectable viral load. Keeping up with my treatment is very important to making sure that my viral load stays low. Your viral load can go so low that it’s hard for your lab tests to actually detect it. Undetectable viral load means that you are untransmittable to any sex partners. My boyfriend is HIV negative and he takes PrEP. I'd just rather him have his own sense of protection. I'm very honest with him. I miss medicine some days, I don't remember it every single day. There are days I slip up. And I would rather him be protected at all times and doing whatever he can to feel most comfortable and I'm doing whatever I can on my end. But that not affecting each other in a way that if something were to happen that I would feel responsible. We will pop our medicine around the same time of day. What's most helpful is having somebody to hold you accountable, somebody to just promote you and say hey don't forget to do this. Take care of yourself. There are people in this world, undoubtedly, that will love you and not just accept you but they will celebrate you. For more information about HIV care and treatment, go to treat.greaterthan.org.
