PDMA Balochistan Holds Joint Stakeholder Review Meeting on Gender and Child Cell (GCC) PC-1 Date : 23 December 2025 Venue : PDMA Conference Hall, Quetta The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan convened a Joint Stakeholder Review Meeting at the PDMA Conference Hall, Quetta, to conduct the final review of the PC-1 document for the establishment of a dedicated Gender and Child Cell (GCC). The meeting was generously supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The meeting was held on the special instructions of the Director General, PDMA Balochistan, Mr. Jahanzaib Khan Ghorezai*, in line with the broader vision and policy guidance of the *Honourable Chief Secretary, Government of Balochistan, to strengthen inclusive and gender-responsive disaster management mechanisms across the province. The session was chaired by the Director Planning & Coordination, PDMA Balochistan, *Mr. Naveed Ahmed Sheikh*, who led the proceedings and guided the deliberations. He also directed the Planning Wing to ensure that the PC-1 document is finalized with professional rigor, technical soundness, and alignment with provincial priorities. Following the introductory remarks, a detailed presentation of the draft PC-1 was delivered by the appointed consultant, highlighting the objectives, scope, operational framework, and proposed interventions of the Gender and Child Cell. The proposed Cell is designed to address the specific vulnerabilities and protection needs of women and children during disaster preparedness, response, and recovery phases across Balochistan. Participants from academia, non-governmental organizations, and allied departments actively engaged in constructive discussions, offering valuable technical inputs and recommendations to further refine the proposal. Key areas of discussion included institutional coordination, sustainability, capacity building, and the effective mainstreaming of gender and child protection within disaster management operations. PDMA Balochistan expresses its sincere appreciation to all participating stakeholders, including representatives from UNHCR, UNFPA, IOM, DANESH, BRSP, the Social Welfare Department, academia, and other relevant organizations, for their active participation and valuable contributions. The meeting concluded with strong consensus and a reaffirmed commitment from all stakeholders to collaborate closely in establishing the Gender and Child Cell as a pivotal initiative. The GCC is expected to significantly enhance PDMA Balochistan’s capacity to deliver inclusive, equitable, and effective disaster risk management services across the province.
