New England has all kinds of historic clues in the landscape that the settlers left behind. cart paths, wagon trails, cellar holes, stone lined wells, rock walls, stone walls & improved farming land . Well today I went to a location that I had not been too far before. There is a clearly visible wagon road going back to the colonial days and reading the landscape history you can see its shoulders and rock lined edges. It gos up ! Up into the mountain range and I want to explore and follow to see if we can find any early American settlers sites up there. A lot of the clues left behind have been destroyed and wiped off the planet from all the logging the last 100 years but we do our best to read the land. You know somebody lived up here because of the rock walls its just locating the footprint of a home that is difficult.
