Here is a practice track of Soli Rapide with ballet rather than traditional dunduns. It includes three djembe parts, a traditional sangban part, and ballet dunduns. Soli Rapide is a popular rhythm from Guinea and Mali (where it is called Sougou), West Africa. If you would like it to be faster or slower, you can change the tempo incrementally by going to settings, playback speed, and custom (up top). You can learn the parts included here (except that I changed djembe 1 for 2 and vice-versa) from master drummer Fara Tolno's Rhythm Reference Project (http://www.rhythmreference.com/) and Djembe Guru (https://www.djembeguru.com). If you like what I'm doing, you'll love what he's doing! That being said, you can use other parts learned elsewhere. There are several ways to arrange Soli Rapide. If it doesn't seem to fit with your parts, it might be that you're playing Soli Lent, a binary (4/4) rhythm, as opposed to this tertiary (12/8) rhythm, often played alongside it. I did this track and many more in response to the social isolation related to COVID-19. I had no one to drum with, and I figured others were in the same situation.. You’ll find lots of other practice tracks on my YouTube channel. Enjoy!
