You look at a clock. Seconds ticking forward. But modern physics says something unsettling: What's moving might not be time. According to some interpretations consistent with relativity, the past, present, and future... all exist simultaneously. This is called the block universe. And this idea fundamentally changes how we see reality. I'm Richard Feynman. And the equations of relativity don't show time flowing. They show time existing. All of it. At once. In this video: → Why presentism fails (only now exists? Relativity says no universal "now"!) → Relativity of simultaneity explained (Mars-Earth example — "3:00 PM according to whom?") → How Einstein destroyed the cosmic present (no absolute simultaneity = no flowing time) → Block universe explained (4D spacetime — all moments exist like a loaf of bread) → Minkowski's 1908 declaration ("Space and time doomed to fade away into shadows") → My struggle after Arline died (June 16, 1945 — does that moment still exist?) → "Which is worse? Complete loss or eternal loss?" (I still don't know) → Student dialogue about free will ("Future exists = predetermined?" — nuanced answer!) → Film reel analogy (all frames exist — your experience flows, the film doesn't) → The "now" problem honestly addressed (why do we experience one moment if all exist?) → Why the mathematics points to block universe (relativity equations = 4D structure, not flow) → GPS satellites prove relativity (they depend on it being correct!) → You are a 4D pattern (not a thing moving through time — extended IN time!) → Nothing is ever truly lost (every moment permanent in spacetime structure) → But every loss is also permanent (goodbye exists forever in that slice) My honest answer: The mathematics of relativity suggests all moments exist at once. Your experience says time flows. The tension between them is real. I don't know which is correct. Fifty years of thinking about this and I still don't know. But maybe time not flowing doesn't make moments less valuable. Maybe it makes them more valuable. Because in a flowing time, moments pass and vanish. But in the block universe, every moment becomes eternal. Part of the permanent structure of reality. Forever. Maybe time doesn't flow. Maybe it just is. All of it. At once. And maybe that's not the tragedy we think it is. Maybe that's everything.
