Got up early to be at Chitila Station just outside Bucharest in Ilfov county, but if I just say Bucharest I am sure people will get on me! Its just 10kms from Gara De Nord, the main train station in Bucharest, but is very busy from 0600 to about 1000, as a lot of the traffic leaving Bucharest to head North and North West, has to go through Chitila. I'm not a train geek, but I do love watching trains and machinery at work and especially old stock that just keeps going. Love all the noises as well. So this is just a mix of trains that I captured while there for about 2 hours. I know that as well as the state run CFR trains, I did get an Astra Trans Carpatic service and a couple from Regiotrans. Chitila Station is pretty flexible to walk around and down the end of the track and onto the grass without getting in trouble. After Chitila, some shots were taken after heading back toward Bucharest and stopping at Carpati. Bit of a strange location as its a station but not really a station. There is no station house or conductor and not really a platform, but the odd train does stop there. If you want to train spot, its pretty good though as there are no fences or barriers, you can literally stand next to some of the busiest rail lines in the country within inches or climb the old concrete overhead pedestrian bridge for nice overhead shots.
