Ground layering is a simple and effective way to propagate Rhododendrons. Easier than air layering and with a better success rate. Plant propagation by layering is a simple method of propagating plants. In this video we look at how layering in done. The example is of a difficult to propagate plant and the layering technique is the ground method similar to mound and trench methods. This is an easy method of growing many plants and is explained step by step. It is a natural technique that makes use of the fact that when branches of many plants touch the ground they will send to adventitious roots. This technique usually takes between 6 months and 18 months however it will produce a lot of new plants with minimal effort. Once the new roots have formed the new plant is separated from the parent plant and grown on in a container or in the ground. In this example Craig Wilson from Gentaina Nursery uses the deciduous Rhododendron schlippenbachii. More Details Read more about Rhododendrons at https://www.nurseriesonline.com.au/pl...
