Step Up Chopper(Boost Converter): It is a static device that steps up/raises its DC input voltage Average output voltage is greater than fixed DC input source voltage. It consists of dc input dc voltage, boost inductor, controlled switch, diode, filter capacitor and load resistance. C limits the o/p voltage ripple and must provide o/p dc current to load when diode is OFF. It uses power devices such power BJT, Power MOSFET,GTO and Force commutated SCR as switch. Operation of Step Up Chopper with R Load :Continues current conduction It has two modes of operation : Mode I ⇒ During interval 0 to DT Mode II ⇒ During interval DT to T Mode 1(Energy storing mode) : During interval 0 to DT At t = 0 ⇒ SW = ON & D = OFF Inductor current IL increases linearly Inductor starts storing the energy during TON period Inductor current IL increases from I1 to I2 Source voltage applied to inductor during TON i.e. VL=VS & VO= 0 Mode 2(Energy releasing mode) : During interval DT to T At t = DT ⇒ SW = OFF & D = ON Inductor current IL cannot die out instantaneously and forced to flow through D and Load during TOFF . Induced e.m.f . VL across L change its polarity as IL is decreasing Inductor current IL /Load current IO decreases from I2 to I1 Voltage across inductor during TOFF i.e. VL= VO-VS and VO= VS +𝐋 ⅆⅈ/𝒅𝒕 #DerivationofOutputVoltageofBoostConverter #StepUpChopper #BoostConverter #StepUpDCtoDCconverter #DerivationofOutputVoltageofstepupChopper
