A musical group named Freestyle is taking action after discovering one of their famous songs, “Don’t Stop The Rock,” has been generating millions of dollars in revenue, and they haven’t seen a dime. Members of the group claim that major record companies are taking their licensed songs and making money off them through commercials and movies, and even allowing them to be sampled by major artists without consent. After a drug charge sent their label owner and CEO Sherman Nealy to jail for twenty years, Freestyle claims their songs were stolen. Now they are taking things all the way to the Supreme Court in a case that could change intellectual property laws for years to come. Could this case change the music industry for artists forever?
