Oscar Peterson was a legendary Canadian jazz pianist and composer, celebrated for his virtuosic technique and swing feel. Over a career spanning more than six decades, he recorded over 200 albums and performed with jazz greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. A winner of multiple Grammy Awards, Peterson is widely regarded as one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time. In Conversation aired regularly Sunday nights at 11:30pm. Marie Hohtanz also hosted a weekday morning show on CFCN called This Week. It aired from the mid 60's until May of 1985, 5 days a week at 10:00am. Marie was one of the best in the business and highly regarded by those she interviewed. People like Pierre Burton appeared on In Conversation more than three times over the years that I (Brian Vos) directed the studio tapings and on-location shoots. Her guest list was extensive including Ted Knight, Margaret Atwood, James Woods, Farley Mowat, Meryl Streep (before she was famous) Premier Peter Lougheed, local legends and the list goes on. Marie's production assistants included Loy Becker, Betty Park, Sandra Jonsson, Jan Jorgenson and Betty "K" Kolbjornsen. Her studio crew included Joe Klepick, Carman Dawley, Dennis Southgate, Dennis Wilson, Peter Podesser, Neil Scott, Mike Twiss, Kevin Green, director Brian Vos and a host of other talented control-room and behind-the-scenes personnel.
