I've worked with many independent filmmakers who were over the moon to receive an offer from a distributor, but then confused and possibly frightened when they got a 30- or 40-page draft contract from the distributor containing all kinds of unfamiliar legalese. Some indie filmmakers getting their first distribution deals haven't dealt with issues like errors and omissions insurance, getting a title report, getting a fair use letter, having a CDSL made, and so on. This video de-mystifies a lot of the terminology used in distribution agreements. You can probably find one of the issues you're confused about in the list below -- click on it to get some clarity: 00:00 Introduction 01:29 Title report 02:35 Fair use letter 06:21 Errors and omissions insurance 11:04 Indemnification 13:13 Chain of title affidavit 15:51 Cue sheet 16:55 CDSL Follow us on social media at: Facebook: / filmtracts Twitter: / filmtracts Instagram: / filmtracts Disclaimer: This channel includes only general information on commonly encountered legal issues, and does not provide legal advice.
