Vivacissimo: 17:10 Program Notes: Trio in G Minor, Op. 21 is a five-movement work for flexible instrumentation (originally for clarinet, trumpet, and bass trombone). The movements are loosely structured like a rondo; Movements I. Andante, III. Adagio, and V. Vivacissimo are based on variations of a primary melody. Movements II. Adagio and IV. Allegro vivace are constructed from entirely different melodies and motifs. The mixing of different styles and references of various composers create a unique canvas that displays a wide range of emotion. A list of influential composers this piece pays homage to includes: Johann Sebastian Bach, Johannes Brahms, Johan de Meij, Antonín Dvorák, Paul Dukas, Bernard Herrmann, Gustav Holst, James Horner, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Hans J.
