This is a BASS DUET spontaneous performance by two friends, North Macedonian bassist Djole Maksimovski and Serbian bassist Vladimir Samardžić, during the BASS MEET held in Novi Sad (Serbia) on February 24, 2023. Tunes: Cantalope Island (H.Hencock) Sunny (B.Hebb) Vladimir Samardžič plays bass guitar TOMISIC MARK ONE (w very old strings :-)) Djole Maksimovski plays FENDER JAZZ BASS '75 #vladimirsamardzic #djolemaksimovski #bassmeet VLADIMIR SAMARDZIC is a Serbian bass guitarist, composer, music instructor and columnist with a unique artistic expression. He is considered one of the most versatile and influential bassists in Serbia and the former Yugoslavia. He collaborates with a large number of orchestras (Belgrade Philharmonic, RTS Big Band, VSO, Novi Sad Big Band), famous singers from Serbia and the region (Amira Medunjanin, Bisera Veletanlić, Brankica Vasić Vasilisa, Jelena Tomašević, Tereza Kesovija, Frajle) as well as with internationally recognized jazz and "world music" names including Luis Bonilla, Thana Alexa, Felipe Salles, John Riley, Mokhtar Samba, Teodosii Spassov, Marko Djordjević, Bojan Zulfikarpašić and Vladimir Kostadinović. During his studies in Boston (1997-1999) at Berklee College of Music, where he was a scholarship holder and graduated with "SUMMA CUM LAUDE", he received the "Bass Department Achievement Award" and the "BMGJazz Award ". As the bassist of the cult rock band SMAK (1995-1997, album "BIOSKOP FOX" 1995), he gained his first serious concert experience. Being a long-time member of the Balkan jazz fusion Vasil Hadžimanov Band (2000-2010), he recorded four albums and performed throughout the Europe, as well as in Nagoya (Japan) in 2005. With Slobodan Trkulja's group 'Balkanopolis' (2002-2005 /album INVOCATION OF THE RAIN, 2001) and played at a large number of European world-music festivals. In 2010, with his original jazz quintet PANNONIA PROJECT, he released the album THE BRIDGE, where he presented himself as a composer and arranger for the first time. From 2002 to 2010, he was a member of singer-songwriter Vlada Georgiev's backing band. He performed in all large concert halls in Serbia and the region, as well as on large open-air stages in front of tens of thousands of people. For many years he has been active as a bass guitar instructor, and lecturer at "Bass Workshops" Since 2018, Vladimir has been working as a columnist, writing bass lectures for BASISTA magazine. In 2022, he publishes the solo album CATCHING THE WIND (SKS NS), for which he receives excellent reviews, in Serbia and abroad. The new author's edition features top musicians, Dado Marinković, Andreja Krstić, Nenad Gajin, Marco Antonio da Costa and special guest singer Thana Alexa. Vladimir Samardžić is the official promoter of the MARKBASS Italian company. DJOLE MAKSIMOVSKI is a North Macedonian bass guitarist and composer from Skoplje. He is known as one of the most active bass players in the Balkans and this part of Europe. He has been involved in music since the beginning of the 90s. At the beginning, he built his professional career with the jazz band Set (Setstat), recording two albums as bassist and co-author in the period from 1995 to 2000. At the end of the 90s, he starts playing actively with the cult ARCHANGEL, he plays on the editions "Archangel Live - Skopje Fair 1998." and "Heavenly Machine". In the same period, he works with Garo and Paramecium, Beneventan Trio, Mozaik, Alshar, Big City Jam, as an author or as a bassist. Later in his career, he performs and collaborates with: Vladimir Chetkar, Chista Obitsa, Muger Fuger, Kaliopi, Aleksandar Prinz, Vlado Janevski and others. He has been playing and recording with the world-famous guitar player Vlatko Stefanovski for almost 20 years. With this trio, he has performed collaborations, concerts, recordings and tours with musicians such as Jan Akerman, Gibonni, Teodosii Spassov, Stefan Milenkovic, Vasil Hadžimanov, Goran Bojchevski, etc. He participated in the “Thunder from the blue sky” and “Seir” albums. Djole has been working as an author for the last 10 years with his bands KABADAYAS (2 albums, "IV" and "From Monday") and TEMPERA (album “Igraj”). With all these projects and bands, Djole Maksimovski has performed in many prominent places and festivals around the world, such as: Java Jazz Festival, Exit, Jarasum Seoul, Skopje Jazz Fest, Belgrade Beer Festival, Lent Festival Maribor, Quasimodo Berlin, Porgy & Bess - Vienna, Muffat Halle Munich, tours and concerts throughout Australia, America, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Serbia, Croatia, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Bulgaria, etc. In 2020, he has started the Djole Maksimovski & HolyMood band, working on new, modern music that represents a crossover of styles such as pop, electro-funk, jazz, and world music. MAKSIMOVSKI UNITED is the latest project (2022) with whom Djole has been performing in clubs and festivals around the region.
