Ah, the Metal Zone MT-2. Few pedals stir as much debate among guitarists. For some, it’s a misunderstood treasure; for others, it’s the sonic equivalent of microwaving fish at the office. Pairing it with a Matamp GT120—a sacred relic of doom and stoner tones—isn’t exactly what you’d call a “classic combo.” In fact, it feels a bit like inviting a thrash metal fan to a Doom worship ceremony. But here’s the thing: that’s what makes it interesting. The GT120 is a pure, organic beast, famous for its raw power and dynamic response. The Metal Zone, on the other hand, is unapologetically processed, with its scooped mids and razor-sharp EQ. On paper, it’s a clash of worlds. In practice? Well, that depends on how adventurous you are. Fiddling with the EQ is key here. The MT-2 has way more tonal range than people give it credit for—dial back the infamous “scoop,” and suddenly, it starts behaving. When fed into the GT120, the pedal’s tightly compressed aggression meets the amp’s warm, earth-shaking growl. And surprisingly, they don’t fight as much as you’d think. Sure, it won’t dethrone your fuzz pedal, but it brings a certain “cut through the mix” attitude that can be oddly satisfying. So, is this a natural pairing? Nope. But sometimes, it’s the unlikely combinations that surprise you the most. If nothing else, this experiment proves one thing: even the most divisive pedals can find a home… if you’ve got the courage (and patience) to give them a chance...or maybe not...so what do you think ?! *Imput: 0:22 Heavy Metal 1:01 Overdrive 2:06 British Rock 2:51 Rock 'N' Roll 3:30 Hard Rock 4:20 Fuzz ( of course 420 ) 5:09 Rock 1 5:37 Rock 2
